A delegation from CYBERNET (Cyber Internet Services (Pvt.) Ltd.), a subsidiary of and part of the Lakson Group of Companies, led by Chief People Officer Cybernet – Mr. Kashif Hafeez, and comprising senior technical professionals from relevant departments, visited NUST for an industry–academia engagement facilitated by the NUST Placement Office (NPO) on 21st September, 2026. The engagement provided a platform to explore strategic collaboration in talent pipeline and placement, curriculum and industry alignment, joint capstone projects, internships, industrial visits and experiential learning.
The meeting was led by General Manager Placements NPO – Ms. Maryam Akmal, CHRP Certified and attended by a representative from the Corporate Advisory Council, ICON Directorate and senior faculty members from SEECS. Their participation brought together perspectives from placement, academia, curriculum development and industry engagement, supporting NPO’s continued efforts to expand and diversify its industry network and database, strengthen corporate relationships and create greater access to employment and professional opportunities for NUST students and graduates.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening curriculum–industry alignment, with Cybernet representatives sharing insights into emerging technologies, evolving industry requirements, skills and professional competencies relevant to the rapidly changing technology landscape. These industry perspectives can inform the development and continuous updating of academic curriculum, ensuring greater alignment between academic learning and contemporary enterprise needs.
The participants also explored opportunities for industry-driven projects and joint capstone projects, enabling NUST students and faculty to engage with real-world challenges spanning corporate technology, cloud, telecommunications, networking, engineering and managed services. Potential avenues for internships and industrial visits were further discussed to enhance experiential learning and provide students and faculty with greater exposure to enterprise technologies, professional environments and contemporary industry practices. The discussion also explored opportunities to develop stronger talent pipelines and placement pathways, enabling Cybernet to engage with high-calibre NUST graduates across Technology and Business disciplines.
